pdftotext 3.02 setup on Ubuntu 12.04 server

I need to convert pdf files to text files. I have used pdftotext version 3.02 on my Windows 7 PC to generate these files, and am trying to do the same on my Ubuntu 12.04 server. I installed poppler-utils, but the pdftotext version in that package produces text files in a different format. I need to match the output generated by the pdftotext version on my Windows PC exactly, so I need my server configured to generate identical text output. I can provide ftp access to my linux server and access to my Windows PC through Teamviewer as needed.
