Create a password protected door or entry in to my members only web site

I want to control the entry into the web site. 1) I would like a visitor to come to a pass word protected page to gain entry into the web site. 2) I would like to be able to change the pass word at any time to gain entry into the site. In other words, I don't want the site available to the public unless they get a password from me.
