Make a buddypress plugin to work with my site

I want all the settings from a plugin (buddyvents) to work properly into my site theme, It has conflict with my site's theme which does not display the plugin's layout correctly into my site. I want all the features in the right place, and aesthetically with the design of the theme, and make sure the functions dont have conflict with my theme settings and css. And be able to upgrade the plugin easily without overwriting what you did.
