Database Development

I have recently taken over the development of a piece of php software that is not being supported by the other company any more. The php software is a control panel for web hosts allowing clients to signup and order packages I have received all the files and a Mysql database. whenever i try to add a admin user or a user to the database and login it says that the password for that user is incoreect. The company that originally developed the software said that the password had to be encrypted but i do not know what encryption was used. I would like a coder to work o nthe database trying to get a password ot work for the user if possible
