Check Access 2003 database and repair if necessary

We have a 200MB Access 2003 db which may be in need of repair. The db reports "Unrecognized database format" every few days and we have to compact/repair then it works again. We were thinking that a 3rd party repair utility may work better to fix this issue permanently. We tried one trial utility called "AccessFix" and it said "definitions lost" - not sure fixing this is the only problem but we need some help to know. If you think you might be able to fix this error permanently we welcome your bid.
