workshop plan for using data to drive new product development

I need some ideas of designing a workshop about "using (big) data to drive new product development. Target audience: marketing/manufacturing team of a refrigerator/washing machine/air conditioner company. Current challenges: -- I can't just talk about general concepts and ideas of using data in product design. They are looking forward to generating some actual ideas that they can use. This is very difficult for me to organize the workshop, especially we are not working with any real world data. The current things I can think of -- social media data mining (which we can't do in the actual workshop) Just need one or two cool ideas to meet my client's need. thanks!
