Hi. This script you need is similar to a scrapper , only difference is that it doesn't gather on-page data, it just checks page header data. The solution is to just loop through the urls and set a timeout. if it's online it get's their http status, otherwise it will mark it as offline.

I have done this already. I created a proxy directory submission site to a previous client. It lets users submit proxy domains on a textarea form then I let PHP retrieve the HTTP status code. And ofcourse it is very lightweight, I learned so many tricks to obtain the result without putting to much pressure on server load. :) Just send me more information about this. P.S.
