Ugh! After having a hell of a time installing some cutesy javascript XMas lights and snow on my site I finally got it to work with but only to find that in doing so I broke my ability to comment on the site.
For whatever reason, I now have a site with snow and lights, but the PHP/AJAX/js comments now no longer render. I can go to a page, type in the comment box, hit submit.. and nothing happens. I can then type again, but the submit button is grayed out and I cant get it to work. So I refresh the page, all to no avail.
No comments, and no idea what the hell I screwed up. Might be the new javascript, might be something in the css, I really have no idea. You can view the site at Dommesandsubs.com. And below is a quick write up of what I did to get to this point.
Thanks in advance for any help.
John
How I got here:
1. Site worked fine, comments worked, all was good.
2. I wanted to add the cute snow and lights found here:
3. I made an attempt by editing my template file (_Header) and my [login to view URL] and following the script install instructions. I couldn't get the thing to work. So I came onto SL last night and hired a programmer to get it running.
4. An hour or so later, script works, and all is good in the world... or so I think...
5. I pay, log off, and call it a night...
6. This morning, I find out I have no comment ability on the site. Users are cranky about it, and all my attempts to contact the programmer have yet been unanswered.
So now I'm stuck again. I have cute snow and lights, but no comments. I need all three to work and nothing else to break in the process. I am sure this will be simple for someone who knows PHP/AJAX/CSS but I do mostly front end so I am completely lost.
I need it done ASAP so PMB with ??s and I'll be on until its fixed...
