If you take a look at [[login to view URL]][1], I just paid to have plain old PHPbb ( I created the style sheets and colors, etc, plus forums, etc) integrated with VWAR 1.5. This can be accessed via the "TRv navigation menu", or [[login to view URL]][2] .
I am not happy with the features of PHPbb, and phpnuke. They have a lot of security flaws, no Download or upload, or attachment section. In addition it is slow!! My research has led me to Invision Power Board. (IPB) So in retrospect, I should have started with Invision Power Board (IPB)...
The VWAR is the standard VWAR 1.5.7 code. and EZPortal is just like Litedirector in IVP. I simply want to change away from Phpbb to IVP 2.0.
The current implimentation is PhpBB with EZportal by Smartor, and VWAR 1.5.
The new implimentation will be IPB 2.0 with it's built in Portal Lite, and VWAR 1.5. (Several clans already have VWAR 1.5 running with IPB 2.0 but I don't see them selling it. The development can actually be started with IPB 2.0 B4, as the developers at IBP told me the major changes are in, they are in final Q/A.
Honestly, since all this code is built already, this is an integration job, but will take time I don't have it to spare.
The login integration is pretty clean as well. Simple single login.
Instead of having to log in to the forums and the VWAR portal, the [login to view URL] code simply needs to be modified to check if the user logging in is a member of VWAR. The other requirement is to simply add an admin link that allows you to add a user on the forum to a VWAR member of the clan. (Simply copy info from forum databast to vwar. (Even the passwords are compatible... MD5!)
Invision power board (IVP) is currently at v1.3. They have a 2.0 major revision that should be released in 2 weeks. (It is in final beta). Because of my discussion with the developers, I will be waiting for that upgrade before completion, but I expect it will fall right in line based on conversations with the IPB developer.
This is fairly a clean job. Take a look at 1 days work with VWAR and PhpBB from a coder I know is too busy to take my work... [[login to view URL]][3] This was 2 days work (about 4-5 hours total). VWAR and IVP are easy to work with.
