Microsoft Excel to Access conversion

We are currently using Microsoft Excel for entering and storing large amounts of data for customer projects. The original files used for this were originally designed to be templates for hand written files that then became individually typed in files with a new file being created for each customer and/or project. We want to convert these Excel files into a Microsoft Access database format in order to make the entire database searchable, to reduce the total file size and improve overall data functionality and networkability. We have several different forms in Excel format that need to be converted to database format. This initial project is to convert the largest and most used file. A ZIP’d version of the Excel file has been attached to this bid request. Once the Access database version of the Excel file exists, a second project will exist for the importing of all of our existing Excel files into the database. If this project goes well, several other Excel to database projects exist as well. You should only be quoting on converting our one Excel spreadsheet to an Access database. The file importing and other conversion projects are mentioned only to give you an idea of what other related work may exist if this project works well. ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables): a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment. b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Some bidders have sent messages saying that they can do the project for less that $500 so I have changed the project to a $100+ project. I can supply examples of completed build sheets if that helps people quote on the project. Other clarification in regards to data entry into the new database. We want to be able to enter new data into the database using either Access or some type of other front end (web browser based for example). We do not want to use Excel to enter data into the database once this project is completed. The images in the Excel file are not images of the specific vehicle but are generic images to be used as a guide. That sheet is printed out as a form and then hand marked with notes about the condition of the vehicle. A future upgrade to the database could be to include images of the actual vehicle but that is not part of the this project. To clarify some more questions that have come up: - all of the sheets in the Excel file need to be adapted to a single database (with similar pages/views within the database) - the finished database needs to be a standalone database file that can run on its own across our network and be accessed by multiple users at once * * *This broadcast message was sent to all bidders on Friday Jul 14, 2006 8:57:32 AM: I changed the ZIP file that goes with this bid request to include an example partially completed form. Currently, not all of the form gets typed back into Excel (partially because of the difficulty in using Excel for something like this on multiple PC but miltiple people - not all of the same computer skills). I also shortened the deadline for bids so it is now the 18th. I hadn't expected to get so many responses so I expect I should have more than enough proposals to make a decision after Monday the 18th (the deadline had been the 22nd before). ## Platform Windows XP
