I contribute to several open source projects and use IRC channels to communicate with other developers. I have been using an IRC client called Lounge that enables me to stay connected to the IRC network even when I am not in-front of my computer so that I don't miss any messages. Lounge is a web based tool that works on my phone as well as its responsive. You can find more information about Lounge from its website - [login to view URL] Its works great on the browser, but I have trouble accessing this tool from my phone. It's not intuative and I don't get that native experience. I looked into the Lounge codebase and find out that there are 2 modules - client and server - which are very loosly coupled within the same codebase. It should be very easy to de-couple these modules and extract the client piece out of it. Once the client piece is extracted, i would like to convert it into a React Native app such that I can run the server piece seperately and React Native client could connect to the server piece over socket.
