Hi, I need someone to build a multiple camera system that captures still images with upto 8 cameras. We need to make sure that the build stays around $100 to $150 for the unit, including the cost of camera modules. The system needs to have manual control over the camera exposures. The cameras don't all need to be fired at once, they can fire sequentially. We can use any system that gets the job done, the required images from each camera are 5 to 8MP or higher. The fees paid to you is only for designing and making sure this works. We will buy our own hardware.

I have built a very similar device for another client of mine in the past, had hooked up 10 cameras to the pi and all of them were taking pictures and uploading them to aws, setting manual exposure is not a big deal either. feel free to check my profile for my past projects or reviews and text me to discuss further.

I'm experienced with camera-based raspberry pi applications. I've used both raspicam (possible for this project, but a bit too expensive considering that 1cam = 1pi) and ordinary webcams. Fastest way to do it would be to use motion daemon and capture images/video through HTTP (motion creates a standalone HTTP server with MJPEG stream; not very resource-intensive, one pi should be able to sustain at least 4-5 streams). My architecture would consist of several cheap HD webcams, one or two raspberry Pi computers (depending on amount of needed cameras and such) and a nice website that would allow to view the cams and capture images.

Check my profile, In Real time facial motion capture system, we were getting camera data over wifi, also using laptop camera, also using external webcam. I have worked with multiple cameras to get a 360 degree stitched camera view. What I can do for you guys is build a simulation of 8 camera data using only two cameras, as only the processing of camera frames matters, depending on the hardware used, so that I don't have to buy additional cameras, I already have hardware and can be done in low cost and quickly. After completion I can share you the build software or raw program file.
