I need to design a circuit that can run a motor and take an input from a dc generator all using a micro arduino and a small stack of rechargeable AAs (a standard arduino is also acceptable, but I already have the micro). On the attached photo: Its hard to see whats going on, but the big drum is acting like a motor and theres a small dc motor(#1) in line acting as a generator and theres a smaller dc motor (#2) which is switch on to spin the drum up it its ideal rpm when the other falls below a certain rpm threshold (controlled by arduino or similar) This is actually small, this is only about 12 inches (.3m) long The DC motors produce very little power (6v, 10oz, 1w) 4x rechargeable AA (6v). Think youd be able to help me on my senior design project? I need a layout and simple arduino code

Hey, your project looks really interesting. What are you trying to achieve with it? I have done a lot of work with arduinos before. I build robots for fun and compete in several competitions. I am sure I will be able to get this done. From what I understand, you need to start the second motor as soon as the drum drops below a certain RPM. However, I don't see an RPM sensor. We can do two things here, either install a sensor which can detect RPM, or we can rotate the drum at the threshold RPM, and check how much voltage motor #1 produces, and measure that to control the second motor. Thank you for considering me.

Just read your project description and find out that your microcontroller has to perform following task 1) It must read the Voltage generated by the first DC motor 2) It must Compare the same voltage with some value to get threshold RPM ( I will Suggest to introduce a Small 10K potentiometer to Change your threshold RPM) 3) If the RPM is smaller than required then start motor to reach threshold RPM Hardware: An Arduino Uno with Driver IC and a Potentiometer with some of Resistors will be good for this Project I had Completed Projects like this before, So if you gave me a chance to show my skills then you won't regreat
