A number of mobile nodes are acting in an area and communicating with a fixed base station.
The main objectives of this research is saving mobile node energy.
We need to develop a protocol that manages energy for each node. If a node is not transmitting it will be in an idle state.
We can group nodes into clusters based on their distance to each other, and each cluster will have a head that will manage communication between nodes inside the cluster and the base station.
The level of energy is checked periodically for each node, and the highest one is elected as a head and other nodes are updated accordingly.
When a node moves away from its original cluster (based on the distance to the head), it will be a member to another cluster where its distance to the new cluster’s head is less that to its previous one.
The metrics of interest that are used to compare the efficiency of the protocol are:
Number of packets dropped
Delay
Latency
