I'm not quite fan of Linux but need to prepare a lab for developing device drivers on Linux. There are many tutorials an book about device driver development under linux, but the problem I'm facing is that I haven't been able yet to get a correct configuration on the machine (source header files, makefiles, etc). I tried with a few Debian an Ubuntu but I always get a lot of errors and cannot generate the output kernel module and install it for one reason or another. Instead of wasting more time I prefer to pay anyone that is more expert on this field who can put it to work so I can continue from there. I don't have any preference on the type or version of the Linux distribution as long as it can compile the driver code in C and build the output with a Makefile. I'm sure that for a Linux expert it will be a piece of cake. The result of the project should be a VM with Linux where I can, for example, compile the code in this tutorial: [login to view URL]

Hello, I can provide you a docker image or a virtualbox vm image where you have all the necessary with the mentioned sample code building. It will be ubuntu based. My guess is that you wither didnt install kernel headers correctly, or some of the data structures used in the module code you wanted to build changed in your kernel version (so for example if the file operations struct changes your code wont build, or builds but does not run correctly) You can give it a try afterwards and if it is ok you pay me , if not you tell me what you could not do and j fix it. We keep doing that until you can build your modules and run them correctly. I can also probably provide you with some jice demo drivers if you tell me what you want to show to your students.
