I have a BA Language degree in English and a post-graduate in Education. I
have also completed a Management Development Programme at Stellenbosch
Business School.
I have been a Language Practitioner (currently Control Editor) at the South
African Parliament’s Languages Section since 2002 where I have gained
extensive experience in translating, interpreting, recording, transcribing, editing
and indexing.
I was seconded as English Hansard Reporter to the 3rdOrdinary Session of the
Pan-African Parliament in Midrand, Gauteng where my functions included
reporting of plenaries and collating of debates as well as assisting in work
allocation and distribution and managing administrative tasks in the Hansard
office for foreign languages. I was also seconded to assist the observers during
the election of the Democratic Republic of Congo, writing reports regarding the
progress in various electoral stations throughout the DRC. I further served as
part of the group of Parliamentary Officials who were seconded to the 118th Inter-
Parliamentary Union when it was hosted by the Republic of South Africa in 2008.
My functions included registering and assisting various delegates from respective
countries with relevant information in the reception area/information desk as well
as in the Chamber where the plenaries were held.
