Contest Brief

Looking for more ideas / preliminary layouts for facilities meeting the following criteria:

30 Student rooms (based on the attached image)
4-6 Communal bathrooms with showers for each hallway or floor
4-6 Common rooms with Kitchenettes for each hallway or floor
2 guest rooms (with private bathrooms/showers)
3 one-bedroom apartments
1 stadium theater-style auditorium room holding 50-70 people (similar to those in this link: http://www.specfurniture.com/tables/lecture-halls)
2 classroom-style rooms holding 25-35 students each
10-16 small rooms that will fit 4-15 people (or one large room with dividers)
1 computer center/study room that could hold 20 people, 4-6 book cases
1 Kitchen/Dining facility/area that could serve 50
Laundry facility to serve 50
20'x20' area for food vending machines

Dimensions can be best estimated by those who submit and facilities can be attached, detached, stacked floors, or connected with hallways. Whatever seems most cost-effective and creates an efficient and cost-effective layout.

Handicap accessibility should be a consideration.

Winner will be required to email files / drawings in their original format. Any software can be utilized. As long as proposed layouts are legible and meet the above criteria they will be considered.

Amended brief: Please note that this needs to be a one complex with everything included. All software is accepted as long as the floorplan is legible and proportionately makes sense.

The possibility that such contests are held only to steal ideas and then award the winner to one of his own accounts can't be ruled out. Considering the winning design has no sense at all, it likely seems the case in this design. Please note this guy.

Please note that as feasibility studies are conducted some of the preferred alternate layouts may be requested for purchase at a later date.

Hi Jim, thanks for the input. Several factors contributed to the selection but ultimately the decision was by those above me. Yours was very high on the selection.

Hello! I think it is a very good brief where one can develop a nice typological proposal. But still, I would like to be given more information about the building(s) and the site in order to consider some sustainability parametres, as part of a whole cost-effective solution. Is it to be presented only a layout or draft sections and elevations as well? Is it a problem to work in the metric system?

Metric would be fine. Property will be located / purchased to accommodate our needs / design (after the design phase). Elevations are unnecessary. The floor plan / layout is all that is primarily required and will be judged.

Dear contest holder, do we have some site plan general dimensions? Or some maximum width, maximum length, maximum height for this building?

No. Please consider what you think is appropriate and cost-effective.
