Update theme to an old Wordpress site

My current website serves for 2 platforms 1/ promoting my current business 2/ offering an online subscription based membership where people sign up to receive access to the back end of the system. (online fitness classes etc)
It is an old theme that needs to be updated for efficiency and a fresh look.
The old theme uses short codes so hoping to find another Wordpress theme I can use that doesn't have short codes that allows me to move and edit content easily myself.
Looking for someone that specialises in Wordpress sites, who has a good eye for design and who can show examples of their work.
