Need to add my JS/JQuery variable into my css string.

I have a hopefully simple job that needs done. I have a JQuery variable and I need it to be inside my CSS content string.
Here is my html/css file to show you what I have done: [login to view URL]
I need a <span id="id1"></span> to be next to each "Hello" in the css text.
For example css:
content: "Hello" <span id="id1"></span>;
content: "Hello 2" <span id="id1"></span>;
content: "Hello 3" <span id="id1"></span>;
But this obviously does not work since the content property only works with pseudo elements and I can't seem to figure it out where to go from here. Maybe it need written in JS? What can you do to help? Thanks!
