<Technology Description>
This technology is a technology for vehicle control equipment that enables vehicles to stop and start appropriately in response to preceding vehicle movements.
When a vehicle follows a preceding vehicle in traffic flow, if the preceding vehicle repeatedly stops and starts at short intervals, the following vehicle will also have to stop and start frequently, which may affect driving efficiency and comfort.
In order to solve these problems, this technology controls the vehicle to stop when the distance between the preceding vehicle and the host vehicle is less than a certain threshold value, and to start the vehicle only when the preceding vehicle starts and the distance between the two vehicles exceeds a different threshold value.
In addition, when the preceding vehicle and the host vehicle are stopped in front of a traffic signal, the start threshold is changed appropriately in consideration of the condition of the vehicles in the lane adjacent to the travelling lane of the host vehicle to achieve a smoother follow-up operation.
