Contest Brief
We wish to create a new logo / brand for QIF in order to facilitate better marketing of the standard. Our current logo was created by one of our board members, who is an engineer by training. We would like to see what creative professionals can do to improve our logo / brand. We will use the new logo to promote our standard including (but not limited to) allowing software companies who are certified to add a "QIF Inside" logo much like the "Intel Inside" logo that used to ship with Windows computers.
Acceptance Criteria:
1. Logo graphic and Logo text. Colors, look, feel, font, etc… to be determined by you.
2. Two sets of logos:
1. One to use on light backgrounds (e.g. a white paper background).
2. One to use on dark backgrounds (e.g. a charcoal or dark blue web page background).
Detailed instructions attached (please review).
Background: QIF is an open source XML-schema created for the purpose of communicating information pertaining to computer aided quality, CAQ (e.g. statistical software, metrology software, inspection software, etc…). QIF, now an ANSI standard, was promoted initially by the National Institute of Standards & Technology, NIST, but is now maintained by the Dimensional Metrology Standards Consortium, DMSC. DMSC is a consortium of individuals representing both consumers of CAQ software and vendors of CAQ software. You can learn more about QIF here: http://qifstandards.org/
Clarification (added 1/11/2017): Most of the entries are just the letters QIF. We don't just want letters. We are looking for an icon or symbol to go along with the letters too. A symbol that ties in two or more of the symbols included in the table at the bottom of my attachment is what we are looking for. If you could incorporate three symbols (e.g. calipers and probe on 3D block, etc...) then that would be a homerun. We aren't just looking for someone to write the letters QIF in a cooler way than we have now. Attached is an example of a design I selected for another company (notice the icon and the text) - see attached file named "ExampleIconFromPreviousContest.png".

I am not an artist so please don't laugh but I took a stab at an icon to help you understand what I mean by the concept of an icon / picture to go along with the text in our logo. https://s24.postimg.org/khkwcfomd/3_DBox2.png Can anyone incorporate some of these elements into their logo submission but with your own unique flair? All of the letters / fonts look great but we want more than just the letters QIF :-)

I do not want a rehash of the old logo (simple yellow text). I would like some sort of icon or symbol that people will eventually identify with our brand, even if the text is not present. That is why I captured all the various icons to give ideas on that. Sorry if that wasn't clear before.
