An online women’s clothing startup, Summerbae, needed to establish their Shopify store and automate daily operations. It was vital to build a modern, stylish e-commerce store, design a process for listing products, social media marketing accounts and a fulfillment process. On top of designing such operations, we needed to automate most of it from the very beginning.

Together we’ve summerbae.com. I set up a wide range of applications and customizations to allow high-volume online fulfillment process. I added and configured tools for analyzing traffic data. We optimized Summerbae’s product launch process through automated software.

Summerbae is now able to completely cover all of the fulfillment and customer service with just one person. Analysis tools I set up allow them to exactly see where their customers are coming from, how they behave, what works on the website and what doesn’t, what marketing campaigns are the most profitable and rapidly test demand for their new clothing.

Rollbar’s customers were excited about the improvements to their PHP solutions. To get even more companies signed up for a recurring monthly subscription, they wanted to produce a range of plugins for popular PHP solutions like Wordpress (over 300 active installs), Laravel, Monolog, Symfony 3.

For all these major PHP technologies, I’ve built and maintained easy to use integrations. This was a mix of converting messy community-driven projects into officially supported libraries and creating new projects from scratch.

Now Rollbar supports a majority of popular PHP solution with easy to use installation that allows even more of their customers to rely on world-class error reporting.

Building Wordpress, Laravel, Monolog and Symfony 3 plugins

BabyCenter.com is a Johnson & Johnson San Francisco based company that has been growing rapidly. They needed help with their development efforts, especially with increasing the test coverage of their code. With millions of users going through their websites they needed a reliable, fast way to ensure that babycenter.com behaves as expected.

Over six months working with them, I addressed a range of ongoing maintenance issues, introduced PHPUnit tests and expanded their Selenium functional tests.

The company has grown their test coverage close to a hundred percent. For them, it meant that their users experienced “glitchiness” and errors significantly less. Increased number of tests also affected how fast their developers were able to roll out new improvements.

The team at CG Techonology has lost their developer talent. It was a challenge. They had a multi-million dollar sportsbook to run and barely anybody to maintain their management software. It was particularly challenging since their industry is heavily regulated by the Nevada Gaming Control Board. A big project they absolutely had to deliver was tested coverage. Everything needed to be tested.

For two years I led their sportsbook development team to tackle ongoing maintenance issues and develop new features. I quickly adapted to their rigorous release process. The biggest win was creating a reliable, automated test suite which massively improved the delivery.

As result, CGT started releasing new improvements faster than ever before. Automated testing cut down extensively on quality assurance costs. I also dealt with a lot of internal operations bugs in software, some of which have been impacted the company since the very first day.

Maintenance of a Sportsbook Manager App for CG Technology

Rollbar, Inc. PHP SDK was old, not testable and impossible to use with many modern PHP tools. It stopped their customers from easily signing up. Also, some features supported in other libraries were not there.

I refactored the package over many iterations to make it testable. Created a range of PHPUnit tests and significantly improved code coverage. Next, I introduced a range of best practices to make the package easy to work with for other developers. I also brought the library to feature parity with Rollbar’s Python SDK.

Rollbar’s PHP customer has expanded massively. Previously overlooked customer base was now excited about all the love the SDK received and extended their subscription with the company. Up to this day I keep maintaining PHP SDKs, we recently extended our contract indefinitely.

I am the head maintainer of to open source PHP and Ruby SDKs as a contractor for Rollbar, Inc. It’s an error aggregator service. I took over responsibility for supporting the PHP SDK, bringing it to feature parity with other Rollbar SDKs and ongoing maintenance of the code. I’m working with a wide range of technology stacks including PHP, Python, Ruby and Javascript. This is an openly available project through GitHub community.
