Barriers to Seeking Timely Treatment for Severe Childhood Pneumonia in Rural Bangladesh

28th International Congress of Pediatrics
Findings of the research reveal that mothers often failed to assess the severity and consequences of pneumonia, mainly due to lack of knowledge, wrong perception about the disease and its symptoms, and inability to differentiate pneumonia with other respiratory problems with similar symptoms. Mothers were also found to be unaware of health facilities (HF) for the treatment of CP. Some of those who knew about the facilities, struggled to get permission from their in-laws to visit it.

Anemia among Pregnant Women attending ANC Clinic of TCH in Dhaka: Prevalence, and KAP

South Asia Regional Conference on Breastfeeding and Complementary Feeding
The study was conducted during the period May-October, 2011 and the sample consisted of 270 pregnant women in the age group (24-41) years. It was found that 24–30 years age group showed the highest prevalence (35.6%) rate of anemia. It seems to have no noticeable effect on the improvement of the prevalence of anemia in Bangladesh and there is a great need for further health education promotional programs in this respect.
