Diseñador, Master of Arts

Donny Ahumada Poblete, diseñador, estudia en la Escuela de Arquitectura y Diseño de la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso en la cual ha participado en la docencia de diferentes asignaturas. Profesionalmente trabaja como diseñador de ediciones para el Instituto de Historia de la PUCV y colabora como diseñador en la Fundación Alberto Cruz Covarrubias. Durante el 2017 y 2018, realiza una investigación centrada en la originación del proceso creativo en las escuelas técnico-profesionales de Chile, el cual culmina en una exposición en el Palacio Cousiño, investigación que le abre las puertas a su adjudicación de la beca CREA Chile para estudios de Máster, motivo por el cual se muda a España a estudiar el Máster en Producción e Investigación Artística en su línea Arte y Contextos Intermedia, de la Universitat de Barcelona en España.

All images reply to a singular vision of reality, vision that for being materialized it pass through a process that came from a mental purpose or mental image which is foundation of that will be reveal. In photography it happen a curious thing, the light is captured in particular ways, with the selectivity that came from what we observe in our vision of reality, this is to abstract to later being configured and brought to this world in shape of an artificial body, the photography.

The typography inhabit in the flat dimension, when it propose to detach it from his two-dimensional world, the quickness that to extrude things give us, it look like a convenient solution to make it appear in his surface. But the universe that physical-space in three-dimension give us it has other complexities in his form to make relationships with empty, limits and scales, in this dimension the expansion of an object is not the repetitive and infinite sequence of a flat, instead is the relationship of all the phenomenons, the shape must surrender to these, just as the ink do it to paper. This experimental work is an effort to interrelate or transgression of limits between the bidimensional space and physical-space, is an experience of relationship that must focus in bring to the present the “word” in one and only language.

To materialize the shape of a body is essential to delimit. This way an imaginary space is configured, an air cube, that is the minimal expression of a body, because it’s bring to us the three basic coordinates to a body appears in the space; -height, width, and length-, this setting of limits is by itself the spatial measure, is a form that contains what was observed, is where the gestures and acts that happens in the exhibitions and museums inhabits and shows themselves. But the space by itself, like the air, it become ethereal if is not contained by the materiality. With this purpose the module is designed, it’s gave it form with tangible materials, to it can contain that space, this way this module can set limits, and give it to space the possibility to be inhabitable, to be built and into it the exhibitions happen.

Everything what happened at Cardonal public market and everything around it, is threw, it flow at the public space, and in this way it show, it expose a lushness of acts, expressions, and gestures. The public space appear, it’s built around the interactions between people and objects. So the eye that captures the activity in the public market must be made up with this thinking, it must be threw into the space, and it must express the naturalness of his condition. The horizon that this eye shows begins his dialogue with the generality of the public space, but go into the purity of the acts and gestures that coexist at the public market. In this way, with this distinctive feature, this eye can capture the gestural moments of the body, the emptiness between the public, and all the objects that stay poured into the tables.
