'Harmony among the Stars: Ensemble Theatre and Neel Chaudhuri's Taramandal'

Indian Society of Theatre Research

This paper is a study of the elements of ensemble theatre and attempts to shed light on how some of the greatest theatre practitioners in history such as Stanislavski and Dodin have contributed to the tradition of the form. The study explores the methods employed to create an 'ensemble' from a group of actors and the contrast that it bears to conventional theatre, referencing Neel Chaudhuri's play 'Taramandal' and a 2013 production of it by Paper Faces Theatre Company.
