We grow plants in an indoor farm. There are several rows of plants in different rooms. Each row is on a different harvest schedule. Certain tasks must be completed prior, during, and after growing periods for each row of plants. The timing of these tasks depends on the particular plant being grown in that row. Often tasks from one row will overlap with another. The problem is that we need a way to notify farm managers about current and upcoming tasks using a calendar. We also need a way to predict upcoming resource demands given those tasks, so we can make sure we have the resources available (i.e. people). Finally, in the next version (not this one) we will need to record the data associated with all these activities, so we can use those data to improve predictions regarding resource demands and yields. Thus please keep that future database in mind when considering your architecture.

I am intentionally not specifying which language or software you should use for the project. Though I would like it to be a popular language so updates will be easy, I am open to several options. So please specify, in your bid, which language you would use.
