Introduction
Quantex is an R&D organisation that has developed a unique disposable pump technology with a substantial international patent portfolio. (see [login to view URL] )
Quantex designs and develops standard pump platforms and provides engineering services to its customers to assist integration of disposable pumps into their dispense systems. Manufacture of pumps is undertaken by a UK moulder. Quantex is now designing automated assembly equipment to reduce pump assembly times, increase reliability and reduce manufacturing costs.
Tasks
CAD engineering support to the Senior CAD Engineer at Quantex. Design and development of assembly stations that may include linear actuators, bowl feeders, feeder tracks, rails, nests, frames, air lines, safety shielding etc. All electronics and software control will be managed by others. Commissioning of prototype stations to test design, evaluation of design and 3D CAD of final solution together with 2D control drawings.
Candidate Profile
Experienced user of SolidWorks. Familiarity with PDM advantageous. Used to designing mechanisms, structural frames and fixtures, specification for manufacture. The Candidate must have a working knowledge of manufacturing processes for engineering plastics and metals used in the design of such mechanisms. Practical, hands-on experience desirable and may be evidenced by previous experience as a toolmaker or modelmaker. A HND or similar qualification with a practical based apprenticeship desirable.
Ability to work collaboratively with a young and motivated design team with an enthusiastic attitude.
Duration
3 months with an expectation of an extension for additional 3 months.
Could lead to a full-time post if mutually agreeable.
Hourly rate
Negotiable based on experience.
Place of Work
Flexible. Could work in office or home or combination. If from home would need good internet access to support filesharing, Webex, Skype. Work would be conducted on a Quantex seat of SolidWorks.
Office based in Hammersmith, London (Nearest tube station Hammersmith – 6min walk)
