I'm currently looking for a programmer that is able to implement a basic Antivirus program using Java. I've done some research and I've come across some information stating that you would need JNI (Java Native Interface) to achieve this. I was hoping that JNI can be used to include C/C++ to perform tasks of reading particular segments of a computer system including the sectors of the hard drive, system memory, and operating system start-up files. I'm more than happy to discuss my needs for the program in more detail for those who are interested. I do apologise if more information is needed before hand as this is my first time hiring. JNI can help you to call native system libraries from Java but it will not be portable on multiple operating systems. Or you will need to develop a library for each targeted OS (Window, Linux, MacOs,...) My name is Nourreddine, I'm french and I have 17 years experience in Software development. I already developed an industrial printer driver and a Java network library with JNI. But, I need to know few things: - What is/are the targeted os(s) ? - Do you have the headers files (.h) for the libraries that you want to interface ? - How may services or functions do you want to interface ? - Do you have to use a specific version of Java, C, or compiler, IDE ? - Do you have an idea of how should be define the Java API ?
