Hi there,
Hope you are doing great!
I happened to see this project posted by you here, and it made me curious to know whether coding such a script is first possible, and if it is, how it can be done.
So, I did my research in last couple of hours and here's what I found:
1. Facebook's Graph Search bar at [login to view URL] "used to" have options (search filters) before (i think they removed it in 2012) to filter groups by location etc.
2. At this point, there isn't much on a Group's webpage to figure out its location.
My research is based on following articles
[login to view URL]
So, if you have an idea in mind on how Groups can filtered by Location, then I would love to implement a Chrome Extension for you, which will fetch the groups by doing webpage scraping.
I have 5+ years experience in implementing Chrome extensions, so implementing it once we know how it can be done, is not a big issue.
I hope you would like to chat with me and exchange our thoughts and maybe we can crack this puzzle.
Thank you for your time.
PS:
1. I have recently developed Chrome extension to extract Email-IDs and phone numbers of FB Group members, you can check my portfolio for the same.
2. You mentioned about an excel with Australian Towns attached to the project here. I think you missed attaching it. :)
