JOB DETAILS:
California-based insurance company seeks seasoned software developers with a strong background in developing top notch applications defined to specifications. You will work with management and other team members to design, prototype and deliver functional applications using diverse development platforms and computing environments.
The ideal candidate(s) will be:

[login to view URL] practical experience developing software for U.S.-based insurance companies (preferred but not required)
Positions are long-term or contract basis, and are compensated by salary or on a per-project basis, commensurate with experience.

PROJECT DETAILS (Time Off application and Mobile app):
To develop a DB driven web application to request a personal line insurance quote (car or home owner), rate the request based on 2 different rate engines (Choicepoint or ISO Verisk), create a quote, process to accept or decline a quote, create a policy, payment process via visa or mastercard,
The functionality of the application is as next:
Quote Request process. User can request quotes for car or home owner insurance. It’s required to create multiple data entry form based on different rules and criteria where the user can create and edit quote requests. Attached are the different forms that are going to be required for this operation.
Rate engine. Once the user submits the info from the request, it’s required to “consume” from two different sources the required rate data (APIs from Choicepoint or ISO Verisk), and merge the returned data into the data entry form. Up to this point the user is going to be able to edit certain parameters of the quote request so the system can calculate the Premium, Fees and TAXes.
Policy Issue. After a quote gets approved by the customer, then the quote turns into a Policy. It’s required to develop a process to issue a PDF document with all specs from the insurance policy. At this point it’s required to define the payment method
Payment process. Process to securely apply the payment of the insurance via visa or mastercard.
User security. It’s required to create a user access based on industry’s standards.
System admin. It’s required to implement a management console in order maintain system wide settings, users, catalogs, system logs, etc.
Integration with third party data sources. It’s required to be able to securely integrate to multiple data sources via APIs, RESTFul web services, XML, Json and plain text.
General system requirements:
Secure: The system must contain all current standard security features on the market, so
High performance: It’s required to enforced best development practices in order to be able to achieve very high performance no matter the amount of concurrent transactions (eventually in thousands)
Heavy load: It’s required that the application can support a heavy load of concurrent transactions 24/7/365.
Scalable and Upgradable: The system must be well structure in different independent modules so they can interact with each other, but which the can leave alone without the presence of each other. Also, as new technology emerges, it’s required to be able to implement it without the hassle of “redo the whole system”.
Open standards: It’s required to be able to integrate the application with different other data sources via open connectivity standards such as APIs, web services, etc.
Cloud enabled: The application will be running on cloud servers.
