Clarification: Search - Can you tell me how big the data is in live site ? Parse the pdf content and indexing can be done in search modules and it would be available for desktop and mobile version. Newsletter content can be excluded from search index. Resources is fine and can you explain about other sub sections in resources ? Do you wanted to include or exclude the content in search index ? 301 - redirect will fix in .htaccess 404 - Will make sure there should be not be any broken links inside the site and make sure 404 error page.
