The purpose of this project is to determine whether a group of companies is linking to a particular vendor website and to briefly identify some key points about each company's website. We will initially provide a list of 100 companies, their addresses, and their website URL if known. (Future batches may be awarded if the first project is well done.)
The contractor will locate the website (if URL not provided) using Google or similar; if a diligent search fails to find a website, then that will be noted.
Each company website will be checked for a link to the specified vendor website. This may be accomplished using a tool like Xenu Link Sleuth or similar, and may be checked manually. The following information will be listed in an Excel spreadsheet, with one line for each company website:
1) Company Name & address (provided)
2) Web site URL
3) Google PageRank for web site home page
4) Link to vendor site found (Yes/No)
5) URL where link to vendor website is located (if there is one) or for a relevant link page (if there is no existing link)
6) Google Page Rank for link page
7) Text of Link (if any)
8) Target URL of Link
9) Webmaster email address if available
10) Comments (multiple websites, anything unusual, etc.)
