This bid request consists of 3 projects. They are outlined below in deliverables.
## Deliverables
PROJECT #1, 40% OF BID VALUE:
For my new website, I'd like to restrict access to the site from known spammers and misused proxy servers. In particular, I'd like to ban all activity from known hostile IPs/servers, and prevent registrations and similar actions as well. Separately, I'd also like to have a separate category for blacklisting mail/spam abusers.
Phase 1, 50% of project 1, is to find the top ~20 best (most authoritative) blacklist services on the internet that offer a list of known proxy/other servers that we should block. Additionally as part of Phase 1, the other deliverable will be to come back with a list of the big differences and criteria that we should look at to decide which one or one(s) to use, i.e. what are all the X different factors that vary from one such list to the next? For example, we'll want to include: accuracy (trusted/reputable source), update frequency (regular and published intervals), format that they publish in (e.g. XML). We'd have a checkpoint here where we could continue or stop based on how much is found.
Phase 2, 50% of project 1, would be to fill out a matrix comparing all those top ~20 best blacklist services on the X different factors.
PROJECT 2: JAVASCRIPT OBFUSCATORS, 30% OF BID VALUE
This second project is to identify the best javascript obfuscation practices and tools. It would consist of:
- Find and report on the most popular ~10-15 JavaScript obfuscators that are available. For each of them, give us a matrix of cost, capabilities, and if available notable customers/users. Some of our criteria are compression, integration with ANT (build utility), obfuscation quality, and whether we should obfuscate twice with different obfuscators.
- Evaluate which is the best of these tools for us.
- Note which of those tools would be able to combine multiple .js source files into one combined wholly obfuscated and hopefully compressed .js output file.
- Report on the best practices and state-of-the-art techniques that people use to obfuscate JavaScript code, i.e. what are all the things we'd want our obfuscator to do if we are on top of the game. For each of these practices, describe how effective it is / how hard it is for someone to undo/deobfuscate.
PROJECT #3: CAPTCHA EVALUATION (30% OF BID VALUE)
- Similar to above, compare and evaluate the top ~10 captcha solutions, including both published or described algorithms and any free or commercial software. Include cost, capabilites, and known ability to be reverse-engineered or solved in an automated way as well as some of the basics, like what languages the code is available in and what platforms it's designed for etc, and what notable websites use it. Note: we'd prefer a java library.
- Determine what all the best practices are in captchas and recommend what we'd want to implement to be state of the art.
- Recommend from the matrix which ones are worth a deeper research effort.
Rentacoder deliverables language: 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables):
a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment.
b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.
3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement).
## Platform
This is not software, just research results. AN Excel file for the matrix of analysis will be appropriate.
