Windows Custom GUI Interfaces

I am a Java guru with a little bit of Win32 and .NET experience but not enough for my current project. I am looking for a GUI expert who knows the ins and outs of creating custom GUI interface components and how to interface with MS Office and Outlook APIs to interact with document, email, and appointment DOMs. It is a very interesting organization software project. The project length is about 2 weeks, 1 week for prototyping, and 1 week for developing the alpha version. If the alpha version works well, a followup beta version will probably be built with more features. Basically what I'm trying to develop has two main parts: 1) An application tracker that identifies which applications, folders, documents, or emails have been opened. 2) A UI similar to the software found at [login to view URL] that presents users with applications, folders, documents, or emails in the same group.
