Do you have experience with building huge directories --- especially one that uses the entire DMOZ dump in a PHP/MySQL environment?
Better yet, have you successfully imported millions of links into inLink by intechnic?
If so, I would like you to bid for consultation with my programming partner.
We want to see actual examples, we need advice on specific server specs to handle this and also to potentially handle lots of traffic.
We are already at over 2 million links and initially it was taking up to a minute to access data and now my partner has optimized it to a couple seconds. Search is still very slow and other things like new links and editor picks etc are slow as well.
Please bid if you think you can really help out with this. Payment will be made once we determine that your ideas are solid. If you have always wanted to be part of such a project and have great ideas for building a search engine/directory, then this may be a good opportunity to join our ambitious project. We want to be a cute/functional alternative to the biggies like Yahoo! We'll start with the open directory and build on it.
Bottom line is we want a fast, robust search directory! We are a small independent team but we are very serious about this. Can you help? Do you have specific ideas?
BTW, We also have a license for LinksSQL (PERL) by Gossamer-Threads.
Best Regards...
