Graphics Team Assistant (image finder) for Animation Studio
$8-15 USD / hour
First things first: we're an irreverent lot of well-meaning but twisted heathens. We're creative types. If foul language or weird faces disturb you, we're not going to be your proverbial bag o tea.
Still here? Good. We need help. We need someone to gather images for the animators. What the hell does that mean? Well, I'm glad you asked. Here's a breakdown...
We make animations that are sort of a combination between Monty Python and South Park. (If you're not familiar, then you'd best go watch some Monty Python animations before continuing your life.) Essentially, this means we take images of real people, then cut them up and animate them. It's a whole bunch of silly nonsense. We've included a sample animation so you can get an idea.
If we need a fireman, we can't draw one. We have to go find a photo of one on the interwebs. But the fireman image has to be high-resolution. And looking straight at the camera. And on a white background (or at least easy to cut out.) Sometimes we can't find exactly what we need in a single image, so we might grab the top half of one fireman, and the legs of another. And we might need a cutout of a firehose as well. And an axe. And a firetruck.
Every day, the assignments may change. One day we need a dude in a 70's disco outfit and pole-vaulter. The next we need a ballerina with robotic legs. And we often need props and backgrounds as well.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to go and find all the things! We have a couple stock-photo sites you can search for content, but a lot of what we use just comes off of google image searches, or catalogs. Doing this, however, requires being mindful of copyright issues. There's a lot of good images out there we can use, but you just have to do it correctly.
As the Creative Director, I'll look at what you brought me and I'll approve the stuff we want to keep or give you feedback to keep searching for the things that ain't quite right.
BONUS: If you have photoshop skills, then even better!... cuz we also need help cutting stuff out. Sometimes we need to colorize images, or composite them into something realistic. (Not a lot of ballerinas with robotic legs in the world... so... we need to do a little surgery in Photoshop to make that happen.) So if you can do this, you get extra points!
Compensation could be hourly or by-the-image. You will get image requests about once or twice a week. You've normally got 24-48 hours to find and deliver what we need. Depending on your skill level, we could have about 10-20 hours of work for you every week. Maybe more.
DOUBLE BONUS: If you've got animation skills or video editing skills, there's probably room for advancement. (Tho at the moment, we mostly need help with gathering images)
If this sounds like something you'd be interested in doing, please reach out before May 20th.
