I currently work for one of the UK's large supermarket chains and am involved in our Social Club. One of the Social Club functions that I have done in the past few years is to have a web-hosted, sports-based series of competitions where the employees can try to guess certain outcomes of sporting competitions - I have done the FIFA World Cup and UEFA Championships in football (soccer to the rest of the word), the Rugby World Cup, etc. The software is written in perl (also using some installed packages such as Spreadsheet::Read, Spreadsheet::WriteExcel, HTML::Tiny, Mail::Box::Manager and I use Tk to help me drive the analysis and creation of the required files for the competition. The trouble is that everything seems to have gone a bit 'pear shaped' after I had to re-install Windows 10 on my laptop - the Tk interaction is not working as I want it to and I need someone with a good working knowledge of perl and Tk to help me sort out *what* I should be doing as opposed to what *is* happening. I worked as a freelance software engineer myself for 25 years and so writing software to me is second nature but new-fangled languages (to me that includes Perl!) are overly complex in their application and usage and sometimes the user-guide and help mechanisms leave a lot to be desired. I can supply all the required files (there is nothing commercially-sensitive in the project) and what I would like in return is an updated but correctly working project, alongwith a description of where I am/was going wrong, why I am/was going wrong and what I should understand to prevent such abject stupidity in the future. As a quick guesstimate I think that the 'fix' should take a competent programmer with the correct knowledge no more than 2-3 hours, hence the pricing option chosen. I have to assume that the succesful candidate has access to an appropriate IDE and debugger and can speak fluent English as the code is written and commented in English and the driver files likewise and there is a user-document that I am writing for my own use (but which is not for general release) . An interest in sports would be advantageous to understand what I am trying to do, but this knowledge is not vital. I haven't uploaded any files here as I would prefer to do so when an agreement has been reached between myself and T.h.e. Programmer and I could send them via an appropriate method- email or via a website. Quick note: I use LIbreOffice as opposed to Microsoft tools, not that that should matter as everything used to work irrespective of that fact! I am sure that there are many of you capable of doing the job but as with all these things, only one person will be chosen so apologies in advance to the unsuccessful candidates.

I have huge Perl experience that's why I'm sure you'll be impressed with my work. Please give me a bit more details about problems you have with your Perl Tk app so I can estimate completion time.

Hi. I have been working on different perl project the last one for example is about adding Unicode support on PerlXS level for Win32::GUI. I understand that the perl TK module is just a wrapper on TK framework writtern in C which I know too. I am not newbie in Perl and C. If it is needed I think I can even analyze source code of perl package itself but I worked with Tk few years ago. I would like if you let me analyze source code and describe your problem more informative before I accept this project. Thanks for your attention
