We are a small software house developing retail solutions for a wide range of customers. We currently have 170 clients using our modern retail platform, TRIMS. The TRIMS platform consists of a number of modules that retailers are using to manage their businesses, these are:
Inventory Management,
Warehouse Management,
EPOS Software,
Reporting,
Customer Relationship Management,
Mobile App.
Job Overview:
The job is to build a mobile App (iOS & Android) that we can theme with our clients branding and published it for their customers to use. The App needs to give the end user the ability to view their purchase history, receive promotions, receive news updates and access their account financials.
Prototype:
I have build a prototype app using Expo (React Native) that communicates directly with the TRIMS platform to access purchase history data, news feeds and account financials. The app also displays the user’s loyalty ID barcode allowing them to present this at checkout rather than using a traditional loyalty card.
Requirement:
The Prototype works as a means to demonstrate, but it is not build in a way that would scale well for a large company. For example, a thousand instances of the app would overload the TRIMS platform causing the company to experience performance issues whilst running their daily business tasks. With this in mind I am looking for a level of abstraction where the TRIMS platform updates a Loyalty Service with the data the app needs, and the 1000 app instances communicate with this Loyalty Service rather than directly with the TRIMS Platform. This would make the solution scaleable and flexible.
I have submitted a PDF containing a screenshot of the Prototype and the core functionality required. I work in a very hands on way where I need to be in regular contact discussing the project to steer it in the right direction as it develops. React Native Expo seemed the perfect technology for this sort of application and would be my preferred option.
