Android & Google Play Location Service, SDK 24 and up

Hello Android developers! We need quick help in modifying the way we currently use Google Location Services. We currently use Android API (fused) library. The logic is duplicated in many Activities which makes evolution/maintenance and support tedious and error-prone. Also, we are targeting SDK 27 (Oreo) and this brings some few subtitles in design and coding... What we need is to: - Build a foreground service for providing user location - Service must provide . location (lat/long) . old and current location - Ability to leverage the service in any activities that require this information (our preference would be to use BroadcastManager but are open to other suggestions). Eg. equivalent of onLocationChanged - Integration in Activities must be lightweight and kept to a minimum - Manage all prerequisites (such as permissions) or conditions for this to work (eg. location services turned off by the user) Technical Requirements: - Google play service 11+ - Compatible with SDK 24 and up (including Oreo) - Aligned with Google new announcement (see references below) Your mission: - Develop/share this service with us - Make sure it is well coded and documented - Document what is required for this to work in our app Milestone: - 20% on delivery of service, assuming coding is clean, well-documented - 80% after successful integration with our app References: - [login to view URL] - [login to view URL] We know timing is not perfect as we hit New Year's Eve.
