I am a java developer with an old Java project that worked prior to yahoo finance changing its format. This is a command-line oriented program. I need help to decode the yahoo finance data, using Java WHEN NOT TO BID If you never developed a java application, don't bid. If you are just going to outsource the job to someone else, don't bid. HOW TO BID when you bid, please mention the url of your web page where your apps are that I can try. It is important for me to see that you have written code, before. PRINCIPLES ONLY I don't want to hire people who hire other people, that defeats the purpose of building up a development team. PRICE Please do not bid above the given range for the project (you will be ignored!). DEADLINES Please be realistic about your deadline. Allocate as much time as you think you need. After the deadline passes, I just raise a dispute and cancel the project (too many bad freelancers out there that waste my time!). BONUS I award a BONUS for projects done early. TEAMBUILDING If I can find that I can continue to work with you, there will be more work available, later. This is just a "getting to know you phase". The input can be formulated with any stock ticker symbol. For example, the symbol: "AUDC" becomes: [login to view URL] this shows the key-statistics. Your program will input this symbol and output the key statistics. The data structure you are to use is a class, attached, called "[login to view URL]" The parser that used to work is also attached (for what it is worth)... A way to print the data output might be: import [login to view URL]; import [login to view URL]; public static String getXmlString(Serializable o) { ByteArrayOutputStream baos = new ByteArrayOutputStream(); XMLEncoder e = new XMLEncoder(baos); [login to view URL](o); [login to view URL](); return [login to view URL]() + "</java>"; } Show that you have read this descriptions by bidding along with a statement: Yes, I read the project.

Hi Douglas, First of all thank you for notifying me. So I took a look at your source code. I have a few observations: 1. It is important to put an upper bound on the set of tickers on which you expect the source code to work. It is almost impossible to write code to take care of every ticker and all the probable ways in which the various data elements appear. There are plenty of exceptions! Can we please say that the source code should work with S&P 500? 2. I am, in our chat window, attaching the Key Stats data csv file I generated for the investment firm I worked. You should be able to open it in excel. It was for NSE500 and dealt with 11 data elements. Is it important for you that I use YahooSummaryData object? I could just run the program for you for S&P 500 and give you a similar xls? 3. My apprehension when I looked at your [login to view URL] - you are capturing all the data elements that appear in the Key Stats page compared to just 11 that I captured. This is significant work. Depending on what i should target (S&P500 or... ?) I may have to run the program several times to get the parsing right for all these data elements. I appeal to your good faith to kindly increase the project budget depending on the number of tickers involved - the upper bound. 4. Looking at the [login to view URL], my approach is similar to yours but the main difference is I maintain an external rules file that help in identifying/extracting data of interest. Regards, Sanjiv.

Yes, I read the project. Hello, thanks for invitation. But I do not understand what you want to achieve (I guessed you want to print out key statistics in xml format?) I reviewed 2 java files, please correct if I'm wrong about the flow: 1. enter symbol 2. parser will generate url, DataMiningUtils will get data from that URL and put to yahooSummaryData object So you have all information you have for that symbol in yahooSummaryData object, what do you want to do more? Please help to clarify. Thanks, Duy
