WANTED: hot Java / Swing / XML developer Assembla is seeking a developer to design and build an application for displaying, browsing, and searching documentation, tutorials, and e-learning materials. The application will have an extensible plug-in architecture, with different plug-ins for rendering different content types. Content will reside in local XML and resource files. The application will load content packages and plug-ins from the Internet, and it will eventually implement encryption and rights management for the content. The application will run on any java-enabled system, including Windows, Linux, and Macintosh. The developer will aid in the selection of tools and libraries, the definition and documentation of the architecture, and the definition of the XML content schemas. The developer will also write the code for the local application. The developer will be part of a small global team. The developer will participate in a daily build and test cycle managed by Assembla, with frequent online communications. The developer may be located in any place with high-speed Internet access. This is a full-time job for approximately five months. REQUIRED SKILLS * Experience designing complete applications with modular architectures. * Productive and talented java programmer with a knowledge of Swing applications. * Thorough knowledge of XML, including some familiarity with schemas, XHTML, and XSLT. * Some experience with Web applications * Experience working on a distributed development project, commercial or open source.
