Using Philips HUE API [login to view URL] I need a firmware that using GPIO connection has a push button or toggle switch (needs to be configurable by parameter) that execute the turn on and off a room (also this configurable by parameters). If the configuration will be with push button, the firmware need to have an extra function to dim the light, first long press adding more light starting from the actual to 100% and if you press it again it will remove the light from the last state to 10% max, and vice versa. The project starts only with this function, but in a near future it will be more complex. Optional but nice to have (i will evaluate the cost) config of the device via simple web page, as first execution the esp32 will be an access point with a simple config page, after the wifi information and the configuration of the parameters of HUE (username, room, toggle/momentary switch etc) it will be connected to the existing wifi network and the configuration can be changed using the same page.

I've worked on Arduino and ESP8266 for last four years. I'm currently doing a project including the two and RasPi. Will be approaching your project by integrating the Philip HUE with the ESP and then try to control it over an APP or over the internet. Hoping to discuss more about this project very soon.

Hello... This is very easy to do it yourself. Are you sure you can't do it? The push button connected to a pin on the ESP32 must be connected to one of the pins that can take a digital input. Not all pins on the ESP32 can act as digital inputs. Using timers to determine the length of button press is also very straightforward and doable. For WiFi connection on the ESP32, check out the WiFiManager library. The web app interface really should be done with a protocol called "WebSockets", or at least with another Javascript extension called "AJAX", because these will give you real-time feedback in the browser. The ESP32 will be able to communicate with the web application and tell it what the current status is of the systems such as the HUE bulb. I've done lots of projects with the ESP32. It is actually my favorite microcontroller. I actually modified a full-sized military tank to be remote controlled, using an ESP32 and WebSockets as the primary control. It was featured on the cover of Popular Mechanics magazine (a US magazine, not sure if it is sold in Belgium) in December. I have done lots of this type of work. I'm based in the US, and I'm really good at what I do I think, so my price will be higher than people in other countries, but I can get this project done for you better than you imagined. One of the benefits of using me for this project is that I will teach you what I'm doing, and help you be able to do future projects yourself. Thanks! -- Jim Newton
