We are developing a Business-Directory where businesses are categorized by a main and a subcategory. A user can register his company in a three-step submission. In step two, the user has to specify which services his company is offering and therefore chooses within the available main- and subcategories. Additionally, a user should be able to suggest a new category for a missing service he wants to declare. For better searchability in the directory a user should be able to specify as precise as possible what services his company is providing. Therefore, the system offers a lot of categories and subcategories to choose from. Currently we are using an accordion with checkboxes to let the user check these categories suiting his services. Unfortunately, due to the variety, the UI feels a bit cluttered and may tire a user during registration. Your quest would be to redesign and improve this step of the registration process intelligently, in order to maximize user experience. Deliverables would be mockups, html, css, Javascript or most ideally Angular components. In order to work for us, please show some examples of tasks you have been dealing with, where you have found an elegant and maybe unusual solutions to maximize user experience.
