Isolated one person from wedding photograph of multiple people

I would like a image of one person from wedding photograph of multiple people. The person I want in the final image is standing too close to the other people in the photo for a simple crop to do the trick. As such, the people immediately to the left and right of the person I want in the final image will have to be painted over with copies of the the white wall and red carpet seen in the background of the original. The person I want in the final image is one of the two guys in the photo. Of the two, the one I want is the guy wearing a bolo tie. In the final image I would want that guy's whole body (head to foot) on a background of the white wall and red carpet. I would want the final image to be taller than it is wide and the ratio of image width to height to be 8.5 to 11. I have Photoshop on my computer and I took a stab at it, but I am an amateur and I did a bad job. I have attached both the original image and my attempt. It could be that you could save yourself some time an effort by picking up where I left off on the partially edited image. You will have to take a look at the partially edited image to see if that is possible or whether I did such a bad job that it would just be easier for you to start from scratch with the original.
