We have a need for a document workflow for use with SharePoint Online. We would like the solution developed using Visual Studio as a SharePoint Add-In for future maintenance. The workflow needs to act on documents added to a list/library of Draft Documents and once the final approval is given it needs to copy the document to an Approved list/library. There may be one or multiple approvers. The most important aspect of this workflow is that it should cater for either serial or parallel approval. This would be declared in a tickbox choice field when the document was added to the Draft Documents list an acted upon by the workflow. If parallel is selected, then all selected approvers would be emailed at once. If serial was selected, then only the first approver would be emailed and subsequent approvers would be emailed once the first had approved, then the second, and so forth.
