Here are the file: [login to view URL] (the files are in excel, but can be provided to you in json if you prefer). Please have a look at the file (Master [login to view URL]). This is a partial list of the categories on our website (please note, each Level 1, 2, 3 category will have a unique Category ID in six digit numberical value). Then please have a look at 1st source file and 2nd source file which need to be “mapped” to our “master categories” – ideally to Level 3, but if no match then Level 2, and finally worse case Level 1. There may be more than 1 match so it should put the 2nd and 3rd suggestion in a separate column. Please note that this tool is not expected to automate 100% of the matching/mapping of (sub) categories, but to save a lot of time before starting the manual process. Program should be PC/Windows based preferably (vb, excel based program, etc.), with good UI UX and easy to use. I hope you have the experience to have done this before so you know what I don’t know. Note, Master file will remain FIXED once I provide you (except periodically very couple of months to change/add a few categories). Only the source file(s) need to be worked upon - to enter the closest category in master file into the column in source file. Please let me know if you have any questions. ADDED LATER: Please note, some freelancers have mentioned "exact word match" in their proposal - please note, that will fail! I do not have much experience in data analysis - but this would need to be done with Fuzzy Matching or similar. Please elaborate on this in your bid please.

Completely automatic and configurable (adding and deleting records in the master file). 1. Excel expert with extensive vba programming experience. I can create the process to facilitate the category matching as you described. What I would do is create an Add In for excel that would allow you to click a button which could launch the UI and process the business logic behind the scenes. 2. I have worked for several years in excel and perform daily work using vba, user forms, pivot tables, formulas, etc. 3. I'ma seasoned software engineer specialising on WIndows desktop software- and can easily develop a desktop program, that takes as input the Master file and the two source files, does the analysis of data, produces the association or mapping, and produces some sort of output file(in Excel or CSV etc). It would be easiest to have all three source files in CSV format, as I have a CSV library to read CSV files instantly. What kind of output would you prefer ? The original files updated, or a 4th file produced with the associated categories, and category ID added to it, for each item? I look forward to hearing from you, thanks. Kind regards, Dinesh

Hello, I am a data anlyst and R programmer. I spent some time now looking at the data you linked, and was thinking of few ideas to approach this. Since the products ( I suppose ) and the master categories are quite numerous, Excel won't be the best solution from a computational standpoint, but it could still do the work. Being an R programmer, I can think of ways to write you a code, that first checks up for category, then sub category 1 then sub category 2 and on .. and outputs the best result. Theoretically, it is pretty straight forward but I would want to know few other things, such as how are the two files ( sourcessites ) are produced, are they typed manually ? or are they produced by some program ? to know what kind of approach to take when writing the code. Also, when you don't know or don't have a sub category, do you take a guess, or leave the cell empty or what ? Over all, I just want to know more about the background of this project, so I could put myself in your position and act accordingly. I mentionned doing this in R, so I think I should also mention that I could make this an app where you just upload files and it runs, or an executable file or some other form, some easy form that someone with basic Ms word skills can perform. I will be waiting for your reply to discuss more and reveal some of the underlying details of this. Thank you
