Hi We use a float switch to detect water in a flow cell, I want to get away from moving parts as the float sticks sometimes and causes leaks. I have seen these [login to view URL] and [login to view URL] [login to view URL] This last one I know works. We have fitted 2 of them, one to detect empty and one for full. The problem is they are too big, I want this idea, but no need for level detection just empty full and must connect to 4 pins (2 each) or a better idea. To avoid any firmware changes, add them to the pins on our board. This is what we are using at the moment [login to view URL] nternational/vcs-04/float-switch-vert/dp/1006796 I have attached more images The idea should be very simple, a version of this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071F4RDHY/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&linkCode=sl1&tag=piddlerinther-20&linkId=77f1c0f9c67c51d76b687628afa62ce1&language=en_US we can buy the potentiometers from them, the probes will be in salty water, close circuit when in water no circuit when out of water. So it is basically 2 of these one to detect empty and one to detect full, but in one board.

Hello, I am an electronic product designer with rich experience in IOT product design. Moisture sensors are widely used for IOT projects combined LTE these days. Floating switch in your current design can be replaced by moisture sensor for size reduction and better configuration. I am an expert in circuit design, PCB layout and firmware development. Looking forward to having opportunity to discuss on your project in detail via chat. Thank you. Alexander

Hi there, This is Bogdan from Romania. I'm a mechanical engineer - specialized in the industrial robotic field, 3D designer and modeler (from time to time and some projects I could make the functional prototype too). I'm doing product design, industrial design, reverse engineering, ideation, etc. I have over 15 years experience working on various systems/devices across multiple industries, from concept to launch. 1 - the float switch you use could lead to leaks... 2 - the moisture sensors you referred to are not suitable for immersion in water (in the end will fails) 3 - i would suggest using a floating body with a mall magnet and hall sensors for empty/full position 4 - another possibility is to use ultrasonic sensor, but will not work with your electronics (will need a converter... we could discuss all the details here... btw - the solution i've proposed (floating body with hall sensors were implemented and work just fine) Regards Bogdan

Hi, my name is George Bouris. Yes, you can replace the existing sensors, with sensors similar to what you suggest. Considering that the input to your PCB is a common input with pull-up resistor, a very small and simple circuit required to connect this type of sensors. It may have the form of an adaptor with one male and one female connectors, so it will seamlessly connect to the existing PCB. However, this type of sensors performs electrolysis (current flows through the water), which has two consequences: - It slightly affects the water. - The sensor's electrodes oxidise relatively soon I wasn't able to find ready made such sensors and these that you suggest will be oxidised soon (their electrodes are very thin). You need something that will last for a few years at least, I guess, so you probably need to build something custom. In my opinion you should use some kind of stainless steel. If you're interested, I can build such a custom sensor and its interface PCB.

Wet sensor modification proposal: The are couple of ways to detect whether a contain is full or empty without the use of float switches such as using light, resistance, temperature change and ultrasonic. However, the sensor application will determine the selection of type because to measure water level you can use all but to measure content of water in a substance the resistance sensor will be applicable. Destiny Innovations will provide : -Suitable sensor for your application -Electrical circuit diagram that will interface with your development board. -The PCB layout. -The simulation of the electrical circuit operations. - Accuracy of the sensor in terms of what is measured. Destiny Innovations is here to deliver on your project requirements. We strive for excellence!.

Just 2 Probes and a Lead Can Do This If You Are Using Furnell Float I Guess There Will Be 2 Nos 1 For Full And One For Low Bottom. if It Is SO You Can Use Same Circuit With Very Little Change In Firmware . Even If You Are Not In Position To Change The Firmware We Can Make Probes Act Same Like The Floats Float With Added Electronics. Message Me To Discuss Further.

WIll use AC detection scheme instead of DC as is used in the current sensor. Major advantage is minimum corrosion of the sensing electrodes, and minimum fouling of the water. Since a small standalone microcontroller will be used, source code will also be provided. This allows future modifications to add additional logic and control should such needs arise in the future.

As a new freelancer i am willing to complete project for a lower cost. I have designed custom air humidity sensor before (it is working very similar like your level detector), and design is still in use after 8 years. Please be aware that electrical sensor needs to use ac voltage on probes to avoid corosion on long term exposure. Best regards
