Repair of a Motor Driver. We have a motor driver that plugs into 240 volts AC. It then converts the power to 3 phase DC power. The Drive in question has a tendency to blow the IC chip. We need somebody that can take a look at the board, And give us the proper method of repairing this module. We are also taking on other projects so really looking for somebody that we can continue to call for help. I think this project could easily be done on a video conference or maybe even via Email. If need be I can ship materials. Obviously we would need to figure out a number to pay for your time. Not looking for cheap advice, I’m willing to pay, and willing to learn.

Hello, I'm Joao Patricio, I'm an Electronic Engineer. I work since 3 years ago with Internet of Things and other microcontroller projects. I work with circuit's design and firmware develloping Usually i Work with pic, ATmel, Arduino (Uno, Mega, Nano and Due), ESP8266 (boards like ESP12 and NodeMcu) It is impossible to know what the cause of your problem is without further analysis, so ... I'm just going to have fun with conjectures. But if it is always the same IC being damaged, obviously it lacks the proper protection. Is the board self-made or third-party? Since the IC has not been identified, I will assume that it is a microcontroller or other control IC. I see two great possibilities: 1 - There are inductive components that have not been isolated from the IC properly (such as coils and transformers), this may cause the IC to receive reverse voltages across the Ground, depending on the IC, it would simply stop working ... or it would become smoke. 2 - Transients in AC network (maybe a varistor to protect?) A bad solution for option 1 would be to place a zener diode between the VCC and GND pins of the IC. In theory, the IC would not suffer damage, but the problem would persist in the board and could run to another point in the circuit. Well, if you believe that the problem could be any of these, or that I can help you in more detail, please send me some material for analysis and we will evaluate a price for orientation, maintenance, or design a more robust board.
