Amazon Seller Account Consulting - How to post a product without UPC number

I have a product which I want to sell on amazon. I own the product and have seen at the bar code in the tag of the product , but it has no UPC number as most products from the USA have.
I need to learn how to post this product in my Amazon Seller' s account without a UPC number. According to Amazon rules, a UPC number of some kind is necessary to post a new product. Additionally, the product has never been sold in Amazon before so it is not possible to simply re-post the product using an existing Amazon listing.
Let me know whether you have carefully read this description and understand how to do this without a UPC number or using an alternate number /method
