This is a small project to fix a Dropdown Combo which is not working correctly.
We have an ASP.NET (MVC) web application linked to a MSSQL 2012 database.
It has a form to create and edit “Applications of Automotive Lubricants” (i.e., uses of a lubricant)
See two attached screenshots.
The form has two inputs:
A) Drop-down Combo which should allow free text (the dropdown lists around 400 items). This is the control which is NOT functioning properly because it takes up to a minute to respond.
B) Drop-down Combo which must choose from a small list of 15 items. This control is working correctly and doesn’t require change.
The current Web App is actually working (with a few glitches):
1) It takes up to a minute to respond when hosted on certain servers. These are corporate servers which have certain restrictions. It works fine on Chrome or Firefox, but NOT on IE. In this particular case the users are on IE11 but we enforce Edge compatibility.
2) When you attempt to scroll down the dropdown list disappears
Basically we want the top Dropdown to behave something like this:
We require someone to do the following:
a) Change to using a view that we have created to retrieve the Dropdown list from the database. The view is really quick and provides a distinct and ordered list.
b) Replace the control that the developer has used - possibly to the one shown in [login to view URL] or similar.
c) Ensure that the dropdown is compatible with IE (from version 8 up to Edge). The developer may need to work with us to get it working correctly, perhaps with screen sharing.
The developer will be given access to the code via GitHub. Knowledge of GIT and a GitHub account will be required.
The deadline for this project is this coming Monday, so it's fairly tight!
